To celebrate the bank holiday weekend Talgarth Walkers are Welcome group, have some really special walks taking place around the town, and with the forecast set to be warm and dry we can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend. Particularly as many of the walks involve delicious home-cooking and cake!

Here are some of the top walks available, but hurry, places are limited and must be booked in advance.

History of Talgarth
An easy stroll with a running commentary of the history of Talgarth and some very unusual buildings.
Start point: Talgarth Mill
Date: Monday 26th August, 10am
Cost: £5 (includes donation to the Talgarth & District Historical Society)

Foraging with Adele Nozedar
Author of the Hedgerow Handbook, Adele Nozedar who has featured in national and international press, is full of recipes, remedies and rituals from the local area, having tested them all locally! She will take you on a wild food tour around Talgarth.
Start Point: Talgarth Mill
Date: Monday 26th August, 10am or 2pm
Cost: £9.00

From Mill to Mountains
This walk will trace the route of the River Ellwye up towards its source in the hills.  Bring a packed lunch.

A Moveable Feast
The walk starts with morning coffee at Trewalkin Bach where Jan Shrivel will entertain you with historical stories of the area. Lunch will be served at Upper Trewalkin Farm. Continue with a leisurely stroll past Trewalking Meadow where you will learn about the flora and fauna of the area before enjoying dessert at Whitelaw Farm. If you aren’t already fit to burst, end the day with a cream tea at LLwyn Bedw around 5pm

Talgarth ‘Gateway to the Black Mountains’ Walkers are Welcome Group was formed in late 2011 and is made up of local businesses, charitable organisations, accommodation providers, passionate walkers and local residents who want to see their town thriving.
