Things to do with the kids this October Half Term

With October half term approaching there are a lot of exciting autumn family activities coming up here in the Brecon Beacons.

October Half Term/Halloween

Bonkers for conkers and pumpkins at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales this half-term!

Conker fights and pumpkin carving are the two big ticket items this autumn half-term at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

The Great Carmarthenshire Conker Contest takes centre stage in the first half of the week-long hols (Oct 22-26) and this old chestnut of an autumn event is all set to provide some cracking competition. The action kicks off on Saturday October 22 – and baking and pickling of conkers is strictly prohibited. The second half of the week is mainly predicated on pumpkins – with Carving College open for business from October 26-30.

These are just two of the fabulous family activities on offer: there will also be a scavenger hunt, make-your-own autumn crowns and garlands plus conker model-making.

The Garden is open from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm.

Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid) for adults and £4.95 for children over five.  Entry is FREE for Garden members and parking is free for all.For more information about this or other events, call 01558 667149, email info@gardenofwales.org.uk  or visit  https://botanicgarden.wales/

Long before you get to the unique setting for our Halloween festivities the cries, moans of the ghosts, and ghouls can be heard echoing through the cave! Looking up you will see witches flying out of the smaller cave passageways as they make their way to Cauldron Chamber, which is the starting point for this unearthly event.
Everywhere in this section of the cave the human skulls, spiders, rats, and screeching sounds indicate that you are in another world, the underworld, where everyone’s most terrifying fantasies have suddenly become a reality!
This is one experience you will never forget, however hard you try !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
