It’s beginning to look a lot like…?

Here’s everything you need to know about festive events taking place in our national park in the lead up to Christmas! With so many markets to choose from, there’s no excuse, everyone can shop local this year and support our community…

28th Nov – Llandovery Christmas Lights – the Mayor and town council invite you all to the turning on of the Christmas lights. Including music from the Llandovery Male Voice Choir.

28th Nov – Santa’s Grand Arrival at The Old Railway Line – bring the children to welcome Santa as he arrives at the garden centre for the first time this year. Also visit Santa’s reindeer, enjoy delicious festive food in the Railway Restaurant and exclusive special offers for one night only. This magical evening will bring the festive season to life and is free to attend with no booking is required.

29th Nov – Bethlehem Christmas Fayre – Get your Christmas cards stamped at the post office

 

Visit Santa at Cantref – from Saturday 29th November 2014 until Christmas Eve 

Come along to Cantref Adventure farm and join the festive fun and make magical memories for you and your children during the Christmas Season!

Meet the Elves and Santa in his grotto and tell him what you would like for Christmas. If you have been very good, Santa will hand you the magic golden key to his Toy Shop where you can chose a gift.

Mr Evs will also be joining in the festive fun in a special Christmas Panto.  Look out for your favourite Cantref animals who will be making special guest appearances. Lots of animals and heated indoor play areas all undercover and some fantastic Christmas decorations and stocking fillers in our gift shop.

Stop by the cafe and enjoy a steaming mug of Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows. Winter warmers will be available from the café…be quick though….Mr Ev’s loves the mince pies!

29th Nov – Hay Winter Food Festival
Fifty local producers with ntertainment from local brass bands, male voice choirs and folk musicians.

4th Dec – Totally Locally Crickhowell Christmas Market
Over twenty artisan, food, craft and vintage stalls, torchlight processions, carols, mulled wine and more.

6th Dec 10am-6pm – Talgarth Christmas Market – New market offers a great opportunity to buy local food and drink and more!

6th Dec – Aberglasney Winter Fair – Wrap up warm, come and enjoy the spectacular magical setting of Aberglasney House and Gardens for the traditional Winter Fair. It’s one of the biggest events of its kind in Wales.

6th Dec – Myddfai Christmas Fair – gifts, crafts, card and local produce, tom bola, cakes and more!

12th Dec – Christmas Stargazing
Led by a senior lecturer in astronomy, this event takes participants on a tour of the heavens with a presentation on the Christmas Star.

12th & 19th Dec- Late night shopping at Erwood Craft Centre
Carefully selected handmade gifts from £2.50. Throughout December relax in the café with glass of warm mulled spiced apple & cinnamon and traditional mince pies.

13th Dec – Traditional Christmas Fayre – Come and join in for a traditional fun filled festive weekend at the National Park Visitor Centre. An opportunity to buy some unique Christmas gifts and crafts. As well as wreath making demonstrations and a chance to make your own Christmas decorations. You can also choose and buy your own Christmas tree! 

13th Dec 9:30am – 2pm – Brecon Market
A great selection of festive produce and gift ideas from over thirty local producers with a cafe, live music and Santa’s Grotto.

13th/ 14th Dec – Penpont Christmas Fair
The fair supports the artists and crafts people who live locally, and work in or around the Penpont Estate. So put the stresses of the high street and shopping malls behind you this year. A bigger than ever selection featuring: clothing, jewellery, ceramics, green wood work, christmas lights, baskets, textiles, pictures, books, antiques, Moroccan crafts, Penpont artists- Robert Macdonald, Tessa Waite, Morag Colquhoun , and Simon Royer will be displaying new work, all this along with seasonal food and drink.

There will also be the opportunity to take part in one of two workshops over the weekend: learn to make your own Christmas lantern, or a willow star to take home. And lastly, don’t forget your Christmas Tree – Penpont Estate have been growing Christmas trees for the last 23 years and we have a large selection of sizes and varieties

14th Dec- Father Christmas Charity Bike Ride 
Simon Penny broke his back earlier this year mountain biking and was attended to by the Mountain Rescue team. Now they would like to show their appreciation of such an amazing service. Come rain or shine, make it a date and help Mountain RescueEntry £5 with mince pie and mulled wine or soft drink

20th Dec – Wee Crafty Folk – Artists, actors, crafters, designers, bakers & makers! Create, support, chat, teach, demonstrate, sell, swap, laugh and enjoy!

21st Dec 9:30am – 2pm – Brecon Market
A chance to stock up on those last minute goodies, collect pre-ordered turkeys, geese, beef etc and the freshest seasonal vegetables, as well as great gift ideas and stocking fillers. Hot food and live music throughout the market.

22nd Dec 2pm-4pm – Play Barn at Brynich Children’s Fancy Dress Christmas party – including a festive themed buffet and visit from Santa, with a gift for all the good boys and girls
