IN A NEW LIGHT – Massive Water & Digital Art Installation Comes To Brecon
Theatr Brycheiniog presents a breathtaking outdoor animation spectacular at The Canal Basin in Brecon this Easter.
Giant animated 3D images will be projected onto a 10m high waterfall outside Theatr Brycheiniog on Thursday 28 March.
The event is free, suitable for all ages and starts at 6.30pm.
Created by the best emerging digital artists in the United Kingdom, the water projection installation has been a feature at recent Latitude Festivals where the stunning array of moving imagery left audiences stunned, thrilled and delighted.
Produced by Theatr Brycheiniog, the showcase is the first of four special digital arts opportunities in Brecon and Caernarfon in 2013, part of a project called IN A NEW LIGHT.
In the summer, sixteen half day animation and music technology workshops for young people have been arranged in various partner venues across Wales. Two further performances will then take place – at Galeri in Caernarfon on Thursday 24 October and The Canal Basin, Brecon on Saturday 7 December – and these will include animation and music created in the workshops.
Funded by Arts Council Wales, the project will increase awareness of, and audiences for, digital arts in Wales. The workshops will engage young people in the creative process and offer opportunities to learn new skills.
‘Theatr Brycheiniog is examining further ways of promoting digital arts in the region, particularly via training in animation and music technology,’ said Paula Redway, Theatr Brycheiniog’s director. ‘There are a number of plans in the pipeline so – watch this space!’
