The programme for this year’s Brecon Jazz Festival is being announced today, and what a show it promises to be!
The festival, which takes place August 9th – 11th has previously played host to a bevy of stars including Dionne Warwick and Amy Winehouse, is going to offer up a third more gigs than last year with performances from some of the leading lights of the Jazz world.
Performers in this year’s festival will include Courtney Pine, Django Bates, Jools Holland, Zoe Rahman, Phronesis, Julian Siegel, Jason Rebello, Mavis Staples and Acker Bilk. The stage will even welcome the 18-time Grammy Award winning The Impossible Gentlemen as the streets of Brecon come alive once again.
As well as more gigs, there’s also an added music venue at The Castle Hotel. We’re also excited to see Welsh artist-in-residence Huw Warren making his return. Huw will be creating international collaborations with the likes of Maria de Vito and Jim Black. You’ll also be able to hear the best of Welsh jazz talent, and late club nights will be returning to the Market Hall in the centre of Brecon.
You can expect all of this music together with the colourful street entertainment that created such a stir last year, as well as a complimentary programme of music in Brecon’s bars and smaller venues as part of the Brecon Fringe festival.
