Photography: Dark Skies in the Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons National Park has become the latest national park in the UK, and the first in Wales, to be awarded Dark Sky status.

The accreditation is awarded by the International Dark-Sky Association, which is based in America and which singles out those areas with exceptional starry nights and nocturnal environments. These are then specifically protected for scientific, natural, educational, cultural, heritage or public enjoyment.

Discover more about places to stay in remote areas for stargazing by visiting the Brecon Beacons Tourism website or remote self-catering holiday cottages.
