2012 has been a memorable year in the Brecon Beacons National Park with so many great events, occasions and of course continuous changes of scenery to enjoy!
It’s been a year of festivities with some memorable events taking place. This year the Brecon Jazz was taken over by new management, and the weekend event proved to be a great success with a all star line-up including Dionne Warwick. Some of the walking events like the popular Hay and Crickhowell Walking Festivals managed to successfully grow in size and hit record numbers for participants. The Llandovery Sheep Festival also proved to be a very unique weekend with a bigger than ever line up of quirky and fun events.
The vibrant and friendly Brecon Beacons community continued to come alive when the area very proudly celebrated the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal’s 200th anniversary. A year long celebration was a big hit for locals and visitors alike, with events taking place throughout the year. Stargazing grew in popularity thanks to the help of a certain video!
The weather continuously offered something different each month. While the rest of the country moaned of another cold snap or more rain, the Brecon Beacons tended to sit back and get on with it. Waterfalls and mountain streams came alive to form some of the most picturesque scenery in Britain, snow filled peaks created a fairytale landscape for that very memorable experience in our special National Park.
So here’s to a very Happy New Year, we look forward to seeing you all in 2013! Below is our celebration of 2012!
