New Stopping Point for a Walk Wednesday in Waterfall Country

There’s a new cafe to serve visitors to Waterfall Country

It’s easy to work up an appetite on a trip to see the stunning rivers, waterfalls and caves of Waterfall Country in Brecon Beacons National Park – so a new cafe opening this summer will be just what you need to satisfy your hunger!

A treat awaits you when you visit the new Waterfall Cafe…

Waterfalls Cafe, located nearby in Ystradfellte Church Hall, will be serving up a selection of tasty treats to tickle the taste buds of visitors to this beautiful part of the National Park.

The cafe, which opens on Friday, July 20 for a six week period, offers delicious sandwiches, salads, cakes, soups and other hot snacks made using locally sourced ingredients. Situated around a mile from the waterfalls visitor car parks at Gwaun Hepste and Cwm Porth, it’s in the perfect position to replenish your appetite after a day’s walking.

Liz  Jenkins, Chairman of Ystradfellte Church Hall management committee, said: “We had always planned to run a cafe here because we think this is a great opportunity for tourists to eat locally and learn more about what this area has to offer. There are thousands of people who visit the waterfalls every year but in the past the village has never benefited from them. This is a great way of us using tourism to keep this community hall sustainable.”

The competition for the best cake in the Brecon Beacons just got bigger! YUMMY!

Volunteer Trish Fretten, added: “As far as possible all the ingredients are locally sourced, and our menu also includes vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options. The cakes are baked by people living in the village; the bread is made on site and everything is made with top quality ingredients including flour from Talgarth Mill, even the eggs are laid locally.

“What’s also great is that it gives the village’s residents a great place to meet and eat, and this venture is creating five jobs for local people too.”

Part of the funds raised through the Waterfalls Cafe venture will go directly to the Ystradfellte Church Hall. The eatery will be open for a six week period, but closed on Mondays with the exception of Bank Holidays. Waterfalls Cafe will be officially opened by Lady Large, High Sherriff of Powys, at 11am on Friday, July 20. For information or to browse a sample menu visit www.waterfallscafe.co.uk.
