News just in from Theatr Brychiniog. Great to see that the Guildhall is still hosting some well-known stars!
CHARLOTTE CHURCH is performing a concert at Brecon’s Guildhall to showcase her new musical direction.
The former child star – who has sold over 10 million records – will perform at the town venue on Friday 31 August.
Her promoters are staying tight-lipped about the new sound describing it only as “vast musical landscapes with big drums and big guitars” to accompany her voice.
Born in 1986, Church came into the public eye aged 11 when she sang Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu over the telephone on the television show This Morning.
She released her debut album Voice of an Angel in 1998, selling millions of copies worldwide, and went on to sing for the Pope, The President, and dueted with some of the biggest names in music.
Following the release of her 2005 album Tissues and Issues, Church decided to take a break from music and concentrate on her family and her new TV career.
The Charlotte Church Show began on Channel 4 in 2006, and ran for three series with Church winning a British Comedy Award for Best Female Comedy Newcomer.
She was also nominated for the prestigious Rose d’Or award in 2008 for Best Entertainer.
As well as her own show, Church has appeared in various other TV programmes such as Heartbeat, Have I Got News For You (as both panelist and host), and was one of the judges on Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s 2010 show Over The Rainbow.
Charlotte Church is in concert at Brecon Guildhall on Friday 31 August. Tickets cost £12.50 (£11.50 concs) and are available from Theatr Brycheiniog’s box office on 01874 611622 or online at www.theatrbrycheiniog.co.uk.
Doors open at 8.00pm and the concert is for over 14s.
