Walk Wednesday: We Love Water in the Brecon Beacons

Here’s a Walking Wednesday that is more of a self promotion to the great Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal.

Sticking to this weeks water theme, we thought we’d put up a walk we did a year ago, click here to see more information on the great canal walk.

But not only is the canal the perfect place to take the family for a walk, it is also a great place to go on a long bike ride.  Here is an event that might catch your eye:

Brecon and Monmouth Canal 200 Bike Ride Event  – (19th May).
The only bike ride in Wales from the sea to the Brecon Beacons that is fairly flat all the way and offering some spectacular scenery.

Spend your day by setting off from the City of Newport and riding to the mountainside town of Brecon, enroute enjoy the great local foods in some traditional local restaurants and pubs.  Just £25 per person sponsorship to enter, all profits are going to the Brecon Mountain Rescue Service fund. The ride is suitable for families and has shorter routes from Talybont-on-Usk.  If you’re looking for accommodation, Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages are donating 10% of all bookings from cycling participant guests to this very important cause.  To book your place visit the website by clicking here.

To get the great deal call Brecon Cottages on 01874 676446 to book a cottage.
