Top Five Quirky Winter Activities in the Brecon Beacons

The weather might be a little a colder in winter, but it only takes a few extra layers to get out and about to have a good time. Christmas is all about fun and being with the people you love.  As well as a time for some team bonding with your work colleagues and friends.

Here’s our top five quirky winter activities you can do in the Brecon Beacons during this special month of celebration.

1. Bushcraft.
Want to experience your inner cave man?  Find out how to live without home comforts? Then how about embracing your wild side and learning how your ancient ancestors once lived and survived. 2. Caving.

Still looking for a Christmas party with something different? Want to learn how to get in and out of some tight situations?
This is a great activity, where you never really have to worry about the weather.  The Brecon Beacons has the National Show Caves of Wales on its doorstep, as well as plenty of other cave sites that are magnificent their own right.  Call of the Wild/ Adventure Britain offer some great caving sessions that take groups into some unique environments.  Anybody can do it as well.

3. Archery and Rope Climbing.

4. Poor Visibility Techniques and Navigation Courses.
For once, poor weather plays a fairly important role in one of these activities.  The weather in winter months can turn quite quickly in the Brecon Beacons.  The mountain rescue services have been called out numerous times over the years searching for lost and confused hikers.  This is your chance to make sure you can always find your way back.  Kevin Walker from Mountain Activities offers some fun and interesting courses throughout winter.  He has outstanding knowledge and experience working in survival and rescue.  Take your colleagues, family and friends along to something quite different and have a great day out with Kevin.

5.  Photography Tuition Courses
Buying someone a camera for Christmas? Then how about including a photography course as well?
