The Brecon Beacons Christmas Count Down Advent Calendar – Day One.
Here’s a round up of events for December’s first weekend spanning from east to west around the Brecon Beacons. There’s something for everyone, so put on your hat and gloves, take along your shopping bag and support some great local events!

1. Hay Festival Winter Weekend, 2-4th December
Visit Hay-on-Wye to celebrate Hay’s twelfth winter festival, enjoy a fireside and mulled wine intimacy of Advent in Hay. Relax with friends and family, laugh fit to burst, and enjoy the finest stories, music, food and company.
All the writers and performers here are compelling and entertaining. Their books will also make perfect Christmas gifts. Their wonderful bookseller, Pembertons, can provide autographed copies for you if you are unable to come in person.
The launch of the Christmas exhibition in the oriel Crickhowell gallery takes place on the 3rd of December. The gallery is the ideal place to escape the winter cold and feast your eyes on the unique and contemporary art and craft at a wide range of prices. Visitors are welcomed with a glass of mulled wine and mince pies from 12pm onwards. (Gallery opening hours 10am to 5pm) The 3rd promises to be a day of celebration of the arts in Crickhowell.
Gallery on the Usk is open all day for their Christmas and Winter show which will include originals, prints, glass, woodturning and gifts.

3. The Venison Centre – Beacons Farm Shop Christmas Fayre.
Visit the Venison Centre to do your Christmas shopping, and find some great treats and nibbles at the Welsh Venison Centre, who are doing a Christmas Fair, to celebrate the start of the festive season. Buy everything you need for Christmas, including Christmas trees, deer skin cosy rugs and local cheeses.
Enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, as well as some wine tasting.
4. An Art show at No 10 in Brecon takes place on 3rd & 4th December.
No 10 opens it’s doors to showcase some of the artists works who have filled their walls over the past year, to give local artists an opportunity to show their work.
Visitors have the opportunity to come and enjoy the art, fine gifts and to find those elusive Christmas presents!

5. Myddfai Christmas Fair – Saturday 3rd December, 10am – 4pm
There are a fantastic range of gifts, crafts, cards and local produce, tombola, cake stall, games, quizzes and much more in the North West part of the Brecon Beacons.
